THE HIMALAYA MOUNTAINS in 1958 HAD crystal clear air, and in 2002 there was a permanent two mile high haze of smoke, aerosols and particulates. This haze is reducing the monsoon rains upon which SE Asian agriculture depends and the air pollution will continue to get worse.
